Welcome to the VRWalk Study User Guide, and thank you for your participation! Below is an overview of the process:
1) Unpacking
Upon arrival of your package, ensure you have received and identified all necessary parts. (You can find pictures of each item further down on this page)
Head-mounted display (HMD)
White chargers (2)
White cables (2)
Trackers (2) with attached straps
Hotspot, black charger, and black cable
2) Charging
(for more detail, see instructions below)
Plug in the Hotspot and power on.
Next, plug in the head mounted display (HMD) and power on.
Plug in the trackers so they are charged when you need them. (instructions below)
We recommend keeping the equipment plugged in at all times except during use.
3) Setup Session
After unpacking and charging the equipment, please do not use the equipment until you've completed your setup session! At your setup session, your coordinator will instruct you on how to proceed.
4) Intervention
Power on the HMD, if needed
Don trackers
Don the VRWalk HMD
Follow the prompts in VR, it will take a little more than 7 minutes
Doff the HMD and trackers
Charge trackers and HMD, leaving HMD powered on

Hotspot
Plug the USB A end of the black charging cable into the provided black wall charger.
Plug the USB C end of the black cable into the charging port on the Hotspot.
Trackers
Plug the USB A end of the double-headed white cable into one of the provided white wall chargers.
Plug both USB C ends of the double-headed white cable into the charging ports on the bottom of each tracker.
HMD
Plug the USB C end of the single-ended white cable into the charging port on the top of the headset (HMD) directly beside the power button.
Power
Plug the wall chargers into outlets, ensuring that the headset and trackers are in a secure position where they won't be in danger of falling or having food or drink spilled on them.
(An extension cord is provided for convenience)
Press the power button on the face of the device.
If it lights up with small cellular connection and battery level indicators at the top, it is already powered on.
If it lights up with only a large battery indicator in the center, it is charging but powered off.
If it is not powered on, press and hold the power button until a "WELCOME" message appears.
The Hotspot is now powered on. Please leave the Hotspot plugged in and powered on at all times.
To power on the HMD, press and hold the power button on the top of the HMD for 3 seconds. The light next to the power button will shine. If wearing the HMD, you will see the animated Pico logo appear.
To don the trackers, first ensure that the D-Ring is through the rectangular plastic loop.
Place your arm through the loop, so that it is placed as close to the wrist as possible.
Pull the strap until it is tight but comfortable, and affix the velcro to secure.
Swing your arm to ensure that the tracker is comfortable and secure.
Repeat for the remaining arm and tracker.
Twist the knob on the back of the headset counterclockwise to loosen the strap.
Lift the rear headstrap up, place the headset onto your face over your eyes and lower the headstrap. If the headstrap is too loose or too tight, adjust the knob on the rear of the strap.
Alternately, remove the headset and adjust as needed while removed, and then place the headset onto your face over your eyes and lower the headstrap.
Repeat until the headset is comfortably snug and won't slip when you're moving your head around.
While in the HMD, and after the software has loaded:
Verify that the trackers are connected. You should see the VR avatar in the HMD move along with your movements.
If the trackers are not responding:
Press the indented connection button on the tracker that is not responding. You should feel and/or hear a vibration in the tracker.
NOTE: Do not press the trigger while pressing the indented connection button; this can potentially disable the wireless connection.

Turn the unit off and back on.
To power on the HMD, press and hold the power button on the top of the HMD for 3 seconds. The light next to the power button will shine. If wearing the HMD, you will see the animated Pico logo appear.
To power off the HMD, press and hold the power button on the top of the HMD for 3 seconds. The light next to the power button will flash, then go out. If wearing the HMD, you will see the Pico logo, which will disappear in an animation.
